de Brigade, Legion) MATCHED PAIR. Locally made in Indochina in the
1950's. Bullion wire grenade
& 3 legion green cotton chevrons direct embroidered on black wool. Black
wool backing.
15mm officer's "frosted" buttons. (Tunic type) PLUS 2 silver
stars on each. [REFER: La Legion Etrangere en Indochine 1946-56
(Guyader) PAGE 241 for a similar version] NOTE: These have a
distinct, angled bottom and are a definate Left & Right pair. They
differ from the factory made model 1946 or model 1952 which both have
straight bottoms. The stars are original to the shoulder boards & their pins do not show
through the reverse which indicates they were installed on the boards
before the final stitching and not added afterwards. NOTE ALSO the
bullion wire & buttons are heavily tarnished. Some residue
from the buttons tarnish is visible on the boards around the buttons. Also a bit dusty
from very old collection. Some moth biting on the back of one but
no moth holes & overall..... |
